It was nearly titled 'Tabloid ungle' the song was a response to the gutter press's constant hounding of Michael.
According to producer Jimmy Jam (James Harris III), in a 1995 interview, the music for Tabloid Junkie was originally one of the 7 proposed rhythm tracks for the hit song Scream, that Jam and Lewis had produced for Michael.
